2006 Assessor of the Year
Cheryl L. Romano, Assessor of Harrison County, has been selected as the 2006 recipient of the Ralph C. Boyles Memorial Achievement Award for County Assessors. W. Wade Thompson, Director of the Property Tax Division, on behalf of Acting Tax Commissioner Virgil Helton presented the award to Ms. Romano at the Annual In-Service Training Session for County Assessors recently held at the Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
A committee composed of the President of the WV Assessors Association, a representative from the office of the WV State Auditor, and State Tax Department members selected Ms. Romano for the award. The award is given annually to the assessor who best demonstrates excellence and professionalism in property tax administration. Some of the criteria considered in the selection process are compliance with property tax laws, efficient office management, and effective communications with property owners and various governmental agencies.
