Definition of: beta test

A test of new or revised hardware or software that is performed by users at their facilities under normal operating conditions. Beta testing follows alpha testing. Vendors of packaged software often offer their customers the opportunity of beta testing new releases or versions, and the beta testing of elaborate products such as mapping systems can take months.

GIS Maps are a few months away from Beta Testing by the general public. We realize this has been a lengthy wait however the end results will be postive. We anticipate having the system online and fully functional by July 1, 2010.

UPDATE June 30th: With the release of ArcGIS 10 we will be delayed another few weeks while we upgrade our systems and reconfigure the changes in the web mapping.
